3rd Annual Dia De Los Muertos Blog Hop

Hello my crafty friends!!

Welcome to the third annual Dia De Los Muertos Blog Hop hosted by the fabulously talented Abby from http://www.scrapbookaholicbyabby.com/

If you have arrived from the fabulous
Xochitl - www.cricutcritter.blogspot.com

I was so excited to be asked back again this year! Especially because this year I created an altar in my classroom. All the kids were able to color their own calaberas (skulls) and they brought in family pictures of those that had passed away. We will be working on the finishing touches today. I hope to add a picture of the Altar in a few hours.

What is Dia De Los Muertos you might be asking yourself? Here is a brief overview of the meaning and why it is celebrated: From Wiki:
Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de los Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it is a national holiday, and all banks are closed. The celebration takes place on November 1, in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day (November 2). Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts. They also leave possessions of the deceased.

Here is my project! I created a banner to add to the altar! I love it! The file is from the silhouette store!! Whoo hoo!!

I hope you enjoyed my banner! I can't wait to see it up in my classroom!
